The 205 oversize rooms and suites, many with working fireplaces, feature custom Starck-designed furniture, ultra-comfortable built-in banquettes running the entire width of the room, silk curtains, crisp white linens, and sumptuous slate bathrooms - many with enormous five-foot round tubs.

With their elegant, streamlined furnishings, sophisticated and subdued palette and modern take on the glamour of transoceanic travel, the rooms' are reminiscent of a posh stateroom on a luxury liner.

Exterior
This is a distinctive midtown hotel, built in 1898 and was completely renovated in 1989.

Lobby
The hotel has a very discreet entrance leading into the reception area. At first glance, it appears to be a trendy bar/lounge as the reception desk is somewhat hidden. The hotel attracts many famous people, is great for people watching.

Roman and Williams’ inspiration, steeped in geometry, is further evoked as the restaurant’s dramatic structure is etched by an intricate draped rope sculpture anchored by teak frames providing a lighter, more intimate setting for guests.
